Juneau Juneau
Whale Watching Adventure & Salmon Bake
A Wild & Tasty Alaska Experience!

Join us on an exciting cruise exploring the waters around Juneau, surrounded by magnificent scenery, in search of humpback and orca whales. You may see other marine mammals including Steller sea lions, harbor seals, Dall's porpoises as well as bald eagles, bears, Sitka blacktail deer and a variety of seabirds.

Your whale watching adventure begins with a narrated transfer from the pier to Auke Bay. There your captain and onboard naturalist will welcome you aboard the North Star, our state of the art 48-passenger jet boat custom designed for Juneau whale watching with large windows, an outside viewing deck and an amplified hydrophone system for listening to whales communicate under water. On clear days you'll have a beautiful view of the Mendenhall Glacier as your sightseeing vessel departs the dock.

Juneau has a healthy humpback whale population with some 65 whales returning each season to feed in the nutrient-rich waters and your captain is well versed in locating them. In fact, whale sightings are guaranteed! If a whale is not spotted during your cruise we'll refund you $100 ($50 for children). Your captain will let you know when whales are spotted, but it's more likely you'll first be alerted by the collective chorus of "Oohhs!" and "Awwhhs!" from your fellow adventurers as they witness a giant humpback suddenly breach. You may see other marine mammals including Steller sea lions, harbor seals, Dall's porpoises as well as bald eagles, bears, Sitka blacktail deer and a variety of seabirds.

Binoculars are available for your use onboard. Venture out on the deck to enjoy a panoramic view of your surroundings or to snap a photo. Or, settle into your warm and comfortable interior surroundings to enjoy the scenery and wildlife sightings through the oversized windows.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent tour! The whales were "bubble net" feeding, and we even saw a whale breach. They were everywhere. We saw two pods with 7 to 8 whales in each and more. While we were on a whale watching tour, the captain took us by an incredible bouy, where sea lions were lounging in the sun. I would definitely recommend this tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable, personable, and fun. The Captain was also interactive and very skilled at finding whales and sea life. The scenery was magnificent! Breath taking!
