highly motivated people for summer employment in Alaska. We are Alaska's leading operator of active tour programs and have been offering quality excursions since 1978!

The following positions may be available for the upcoming season. Duties and responsibilities other than those listed may exist. Please use these descriptions to rank the top three jobs you would prefer and feel qualified for on the application.

  Best of Alaska Day Tours & Attractions:
WHALE WATCHING CAPTAIN: Operate a 48' custom built jet boat in conjunction with our whale watching tours. Position requires delivery of a safety narrative and information regarding local marine life, with a focus on whales and other marine mammals. Maintaining vessel log and routine boat maintenance is required. Captains must hold a U.S. Coast Guard 25-Ton Master's License or greater. Captains must pass a pre-hire drug test and be enrolled in our random drug-testing program. Marine radio operator's permit, transportation worker's identification credential and current CPR/First Aid certification also required. Available in Juneau.

WHALE WATCHING DECKHAND: Duties include assisting customers while boarding and disembarking the vessel, securing and releasing the vessel from the dock and participation in regularly required safety drills. Perform other duties as directed by the Captain. Position requires delivery of a safety narrative and information regarding local marine life, with a focus on whales and other marine mammals. Must provide exceptional customer service to all patrons by communicating in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times. Marine background preferred but not required. Deckhands must pass a pre-hire drug test and be enrolled in our random drug-testing program. Current CPR/First Aid certification required. Available in Juneau.

RIVER GUIDE: Row inflatable rafts with 10-12 passengers down five miles of the Mendenhall River, including one mile of class II-III whitewater. Applicants should be outgoing and comfortable providing our guests with entertaining and informative narration while operating the raft safely and proficiently. Guides are responsible for setting up, breaking down, and cleaning trip equipment. Boating and rafting experience helpful. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive guide training. Clean driving record and ability to drive helpful. A Valid DOT medical card required for driving some company vehicles is helpful. Position requires heavy lifting. Guides are subject to random drug testing. Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Juneau.

JEEP® GUIDE: Lead clients on a backroad Jeep® excursion and canoe tour on a secluded mountain lake. Responsible for delivery of informed, entertaining narrative, which includes information about logging history, flora & fauna and history of the area. Sanitary preparation and serving of light snack. An Alaska Commercial Drivers License must be obtained prior to employment for positions in Denali and Skagway. (ATA provides assistance to help pass the Alaska C.D.L. test). This position requires a clean driving record, drug testing and CPR/First Aid certification. Available in Ketchikan, Denali and Skagway.

CANOE GUIDE: Instruct and lead clients in the use of 20-passenger, 37 foot canoes on a secluded mountain lake at our Ketchikan location, or 12-passenger; 30 foot canoes on a glacial lake at our Juneau location. This is a highly independent position which requires the ability to guide safely and responsibly with limited supervision. Applicants should be outgoing and comfortable providing our guests with entertaining and informative narration. Boating experience is helpful. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive guide training. Clean driving record and ability to drive required. The ability to tow a trailer is helpful. Guides are subject to random drug testing. Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Ketchikan and Juneau.

SEA KAYAK GUIDE: Instruct and lead clients in the safe operation of double sea kayaks. Applicants should be outgoing and comfortable providing our guests with entertaining and informative narration on wildlife and history of the area while paddling a kayak safely and proficiently. Responsibilities also include set up and break down of trips, cleaning and maintenance of trip equipment, as well as preparation and serving of a light snack. Previous kayak experience required and some heavy lifting is required. Ability to operate a skiff is helpful. Clean driving record and ability to drive helpful. The ability to tow a trailer is helpful. A Valid DOT medical card required for driving some company vehicles is helpful. Guides are subject to random drug testing. Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Sitka and Juneau.

LEAD GUIDE: Lead guides perform the same duties and requirements as the above river, canoe, sea kayak and hiking guide positions. In addition, a lead guide is responsible for employee compliance with all ATA policies, supervises day to day trip planning, operation and shut down, and assists manager in overseeing operation. Clean driving record and ability to drive required. A valid DOT medical card required for driving some company vehicles is helpful. Guides are subject to random drug testing. Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Ketchikan, Skagway, Denali, Sitka and Juneau.

HIKING GUIDE: Lead clients on an exploration hike through the Tongass National Forest. Provide an interesting and entertaining narrative about the local plant and animal life. Preparation and serving of a light snack. This is a highly independent position, experience preferred but not necessary, This position requires a clean driving record, drug testing and CPR/First Aid certification. Available in Ketchikan.

GOLD GUIDE / DRIVER: Operate 24 passenger vans and give an entertaining and informative narrative on gold history and mining. Assist and instruct clients in gold panning. A Commercial Drivers License with the appropriate endorsements (passenger) must be obtained prior to employment (ATA provides assistance to help pass the Alaska C.D.L. test). This position also requires a clean driving record, First Aid/CPR certification, pre-hire/ random drug testing and a costume reflective of the gold mining era and an Alaska Commercial Drivers License; drug testing. Available in Juneau.

DRIVER / GUIDE: Drive 24-40 passenger vehicles on tour. Provide entertaining and informative narrative covering local natural and cultural history. A Commercial Drivers License with the appropriate endorsements (passenger) must be obtained prior to employment. (ATA provides assistance to help pass the Alaska C.D.L. test). A clean driving record, First Aid/CPR certification and pre-hire/ random drug testing required. Available in Juneau and Skagway.

DRIVER / RIVER GUIDE: This is a highly independent position and a key operational part of our river float trip. Responsibilities include daily coordination with lead guides of vehicle and equipment needs to operate river float trips. Driving trucks with trailers, box trucks, and other vehicles to shuttle equipment and personnel during daily operations safely and efficiently is a key part of this position. Driver will be trained as a raft guide and will be available as part of their duties to guide when needed. Driver is responsible for assisting in loading, unloading, and secure transportation of trip equipment, as well as daily vehicle safety checks. This position requires good organizational skills, good communication skills, and a hard working can do attitude. A clean driving record and the ability to drive required. Ability it drive a manual transmission is required and experience towing trailers is helpful. A valid DOT medical card required (ATA will provide assistance in acquiring medical card). Subject to random drug testing, Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Juneau.

PHOTOGRAPHER: Primary responsibility is to photograph our rafting guests on the river during our float trip. This is a highly independent and responsible position. Responsibilities include, photographing river trips, downloading, printing, and sales of photos to our guests, as well as, processing credit card sales, cash sales, and making deposits. Other responsibilities include, daily set up, presentation, and break down of food service for our guests. This position is a key part of our river safety program. Successful candidates will receive training in rescue techniques to assist river guides on the river. Possible cross training as a raft guide is available with this position. A clean driving record and the ability to drive required. Ability it drive a manual transmission is helpful. Subject to random drug testing, Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Juneau.

PHOTOGRAPHER SUPERVISOR: Same duties are required as photographer and include: ensuring employee compliance with all ATA policies, supervise photo crew, troubleshooting photo equipment problems, and regular communications with supervisor. A clean driving record and the ability to drive required. Ability to drive a manual transmission is helpful. Subject to random drug testing, Valid CPR/First Aid required. Available in Juneau.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE: Company representative to cruise lines, groups and individual customers. Responsibilities include sales support for company products, dispatching transportation, brochure distribution, collection of payments, maintaining sales records, and soliciting feedback on tour quality. Organized, outgoing, well-dressed applicants with customer service background desired. Available in Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Skagway.

MARINE OPERATOR: Operate a 30' rigid-hull inflatable in conjunction with our tours. Position requires delivery of a safety narrative and information regarding local marine life. Maintaining vessel log and routine boat maintenance is required. Operators are required to hold a U.S. Coast Guard 25-Ton Master's License. Operators must pass a pre-hire drug test and be enrolled in our random drug-testing program. Marine radio operator's permit and transportation worker's identification credential required. Positions available in Ketchikan and Sitka.

DENALI CAMP COOK: The ultimate job for those who enjoy the peace and solitude of living in the wilderness. The Denali Camp Cook spends the summer living in a tent at a location along side a stream off the Stampede Road. There is no running water or electricity. The camp cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of snacks heated over an open fire for tour customers. Duties also include maintaining a clean and healthy camp area and food preparation and serving environment, ensuring adequate food and supplies are available, washing and cleaning food preparation equipment and keeping the portable toilet clean and stocked. Denali Camp Cook applicants should be outgoing and comfortable engaging customers in conversation. Available in Denali.

FOOD SERVICE: The following positions are associated with the Gold Creek Salmon Bake, an authentic outdoor Alaskan restaurant in Juneau, and the Liarsville Gold Rush Trail Camp and Salmon Bake in Skagway:
Cook: Fillet and portion salmon, grill fish over open alder wood fire, and serve to customers. Prepare and cook ribs, monitor food quality, greet customers and establish a welcome atmosphere.
Prep: Chop wood for grill and campfire, set up and maintain cooking fire during meal, load grills with fish and assist cook with serving customers, prepare salads, maintain clean working area, wash dishes, clean restrooms and dining area, replenish salad bar during meals, and clear tables.
Bartender: Responsible for serving wine and draught beer, distributing food plates, balancing cash drawer.
Cashier: Gift shop sales, lunch/dinner sales, balancing cash drawer, cash reports, inventory reports, customer service, some cleaning and other miscellaneous duties. Food Service positions available in Skagway and Juneau.

MUSICIAN/FOLK SIGNER: Entertain our guests for lunch and dinner in a fun-filled family atmosphere at Alaska's original outdoor salmon bake. Available in Juneau.

PERFORMERS: Bring an outgoing personality to dress the part of a gold rush themed character and welcome visitors to a replica historic trail camp, directing them to the various sites. Be part of a gold rush themed melodrama several times a day and teach our guests how to pan for gold. Must be able to perform for large audiences regularly.

MUSICIANS: While playing folk or gold rush themed music wander around the camp entertaining guest. Be the background music for a 30 minute melodrama several times a day. Between shows play music for our adjacent salmon bake. Available in Skagway.

Alaska Highway Cruises / Alaska Motorhome Rentals:
The following positions are associated with a cruise/RV vacation package. Positions available in Anchorage, Skagway, Seattle. Anchorage positions are full-time; Skagway and Seattle positions are part-time only.
Stocker: Restock, inventory and clean the interior of the RV.
Service Rep: Meet and greet incoming and outgoing clients, orient and familiarize them with the use of the RV.
Lot attendant: Wash and detail R.V.'s, general R.V. upkeep and maintenance tasks.
Housekeeping Supervisor: Supervise stripping, stocking and cleaning of RV's.

Best of Alaska RV Parks:
The following positions are associated with the Ship Creek RV Park and Skagway Mountain View RV Park. Available in Anchorage and Skagway.
Customer Service Rep: Check in guests and assign camp sites, log new reservations, assist with daily sales of gifts, sundries and local area tours.
Groundskeeper: General maintenance and upkeep of R.V. park premises, dispense propane, police grounds, and misc. janitorial duties.
